Iran’s 5-month crude steel output up 24% yr/yr: WSA
TEHRAN- Production of crude steel in Iran stood at 10.142 million tons during the first five months of 2018, indicating 24.3 percent rise from 8.162 million tons in the same period of time in 2017, according to World Steel Association (WSA).
It is while the world’s steel production during January-May, 2018 rose just 4.3 percent.
The WSA also put Iran’s crude steel output at 2.015 million tons in May of this year, with a 12.4-percent rise from 1.793 million tons in May of 2017.
Iran produced 21.884 million tons of crude steel and 19.776 million tons of steel products in the past Iranian calendar year (ended on March 20), showing 19 percent and 9 percent rise, respectively, year on year, according to the data released by Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).
The IMIDRO data also indicate that the country exported 6.872 million tons of crude steel and 1.623 million tons of steel products in the past calendar year, with 84-percent growth, and 10-pecent fall, respectively, from the year before, IRIB reported.
